Information Technology: The term Information Technology (I.T.) refers to the application of technology by considering an information. The storing, manipulation and management of data using computer can also be defined as an Information Technology. The IT sector has grown much faster globally. Today even India is standing as a developing country due to this vast growth in IT sector. The vacancies in IT professions are also increasing due to the variety of performance of IT professionals in every fields. The above mentioned reason also force IT industries to provide employments upon a large scale. The different small branches of IT such as Database Management, Networking, Information, Security, Cloud Computing, Business Intelligence etc are also increasing day by day.


Educational opportunities : Since this is a specialized field, it requires technical and academic skills. In our country most universities offer bachelor, Master and Doctorate degree in Information Technology. For admission to B.Sc. general or honours, 10+2 with science either in non-medical or medical subjects with at least 50% marks is required.
For Masters degree, a Bachelor degree with IT/computer science as one of the subjects is required with minimum 50% marks and for Ph.D there is requirement of at least 55% marks in Masters degree. However, the rules for admission to bachelor, Masters and research degree vary from university to university/institutes. Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC) offers four level of courses. Students from accredited institutes can also apply for these examinations. Remuneration: In the age of global revolution Information Technology is a well paid job. A person, who desires to pursue a career in this field, can expect a salary between 15000-25000 per month in the beginning. However salaries of IT professionals vary depending upon their individual qualifications, experience, as well as the size and nature of the hiring institutes. Persons with a superior record and high qualifications can achieve high positions. The salaries in college and university departments are comparable to those of teachers. Indeed, the salaries of special professionals are high. IT Professionals working in private organisations also have handsome earnings.
